Friday, August 21, 2026 - Celebrity MasterChef star Eric Underwood is mourning the death of his beloved mother, who passed away on August 16, just days before the ballet dancer is due to appear on the BBC cooking competition.
The 42-year-old shared the heartbreaking news on social media, describing his mother as his “heart, my safe place, and my greatest love” and saying he was struggling to put his pain into words.
Underwood shared an emotional photograph of himself holding his mother's hand in her final days, alongside pictures celebrating their relationship.
His husband, Harry Briggs, also paid tribute, highlighting the close bond between mother and son and offering support as the family prepares to say goodbye. Friends and celebrity followers, including Pixie Lott and Dermot O'Leary, have since sent messages of sympathy as news of the loss spreads.
The devastating loss comes at an especially difficult moment for Underwood, who is scheduled to appear on Celebrity MasterChef on August 25 alongside Emily Steel, Nitin Ganatra, Donna Preston and Tom Simons.
