Friday, August 21, 2026 - Naomi Watts is set to receive the Golden Eye Award at the 2026 Zurich Film Festival, with the actress due to accept the honour in person on September 26.
The award recognises her performance in The Housewife, an upcoming thriller drama directed by Ben Shirinian. Watts will also take part in a ZFF Masters session, giving audiences an opportunity to hear directly about her career and latest work.
The award comes as Watts prepares to bring The Housewife to Zurich for its European premiere. In the film, she plays Hermine, an elegant New York housewife whose seemingly perfect life begins to unravel after a young journalist investigates her husband and uncovers evidence linking him to a hidden Nazi past.
The film also stars Tye Sheridan, Luke Evans and Michael Imperioli, with its world premiere scheduled for the Toronto International Film Festival before its Zurich screening.
The recognition gives Watts fresh momentum as she enters another major stage of her career. Zurich Film Festival CEO Christian Jungen praised her emotional depth, versatility and commitment to challenging roles, calling her performance in The Housewife one of the most compelling of her career.
With the festival running from September 24 to October 4, all eyes will be on Watts as she accepts the honour and presents a film already generating significant industry attention.
