Monday, August 31, 2026 - Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar in Istanbul on Sunday to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.
The two ministers reviewed cooperation between Türkiye and Pakistan and expressed satisfaction with the continued strengthening of ties across political, economic, security and cultural areas.
Fidan and Dar also reviewed progress under the Pakistan–Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council and agreed to convene its next session at an early date.
Their discussions come as both countries seek closer coordination on regional security and other issues of mutual concern, with the ministers reaffirming their commitment to cooperation in support of peace and stability.
The Istanbul talks also came ahead of a major trilateral meeting involving Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
Foreign and defence ministers as well as military chiefs from the three countries are expected to meet in Istanbul, putting the Turkish-Pakistani discussions within a wider push for stronger regional security and strategic cooperation.
