Tuesday, September 8, 2026 - A 32-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi suffered serious injuries after jumping from a nearly 30-foot-high boundary wall at Pahuj Dam while attempting to make an Instagram reel.
The man, identified as Pushpendra Kumar, was filmed climbing
the boundary wall of the dam as people watched. He then did a backflip and
landed in the water.
The 32-year-old man reportedly expected to land in the water
but instead fell on a shallow section, breaking both his legs.
The incident happened on Sunday evening, September 6, when
Pushpendra had visited the dam in the Raksa area with a group of friends. His
friends were reportedly recording videos when he climbed onto a boundary wall
at a viewpoint and jumped into the dam.
His friends positioned themselves to record him as he
climbed the boundary wall. He then jumped from a height of around 30 feet
without checking the conditions below.
The stunt, however, went wrong within seconds.
Pushpendra reportedly believed he would land in the water
after jumping from the wall. However, the section below had very little
water.
He consequently hit the ground with force and suffered
serious injuries to both legs.
He was unable to climb out of the area on his own, leaving
his friends scrambling to get him to safety
A video reportedly captured the moments surrounding the
incident, with one of the friends heard saying in panic, “May God rest his soul
in peace.”
Despite the seriousness of the accident, Pushpendra
survived.
After receiving information about the accident, Grassland
outpost in-charge Ranvijay Singh reached the spot with police personnel.
The police helped get the injured man out of the dam area
and arranged for him to be taken for medical treatment. His friends
subsequently admitted him to a private hospital, where he is undergoing
treatment.
Pushpendra's family members also rushed to the hospital
after learning about the accident.
