Monday, September 21, 2026 - Turkey has signaled its readiness to support Saudi Arabia as Houthi missile and drone attacks intensify against the kingdom.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Ankara could help meet Saudi military needs, particularly in technical areas, under the recently established defense agreement between Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan.
The warning comes as the Houthis have claimed attacks targeting sensitive sites in Riyadh and other Saudi locations, while Saudi authorities have reported intercepting incoming missiles and thwarting additional attacks.
The escalation is also raising concerns over energy infrastructure and vital shipping routes connecting the Gulf and the Red Sea.
Fidan's statement puts the new Saudi-Turkey-Pakistan defense framework under immediate pressure, but it does not amount to an announcement of Turkish combat forces entering the conflict.
Ankara has simultaneously called for the Houthi attacks to stop and urged diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.
